Grinch Mint Chocolate Fudge Drops

Inspired by this scene of “The Grinch”!

Difficulty: Medium | Time: 1 hour | Yeilds: 30 pieces of fudge

This was a fun recipe to make! It involves a bit more equipment than my normal recipes. If you don’t have silicon dome molds, you could easily just make this a layered fudge by spreading it out in a flat pan. Either way, one bite will make your heart grow three sizes bigger!

Ingredients:

For the mint fudge:

  • 12oz white chocolate

  • 6oz sweetened condensed milk

  • 2tsp mint extract

  • green food coloring or food gel

For the chocolate fudge:

  • 8oz semi sweet chocolate

  • 8oz sweetened condensed milk

  • 1tsp vanilla

For the chocolate hearts

  • 8oz white melting chocolate

  • red food coloring or food gel

Directions:

Make the chocolate fudge:

  1. Place the semi sweet chocolate chips, and sweetened condensed milk in a bowl and place it over a bain-marie. Constantly mix this until it melts into a smooth and thick mixture. Add the vanilla and mix until combined. Remove from heat.

  2. Scoop the fudge into 1” silicon dome molds. Set aside in the freezer.

  2. Add a few drops of green food coloring and mix it in.

Assemble the domes.

  1. Remove the chocolate fudge domes from the freezer and remove them from the mold.

  2. Add a scoop of the mint fudge into 2” silicon dome molds and press the smaller, chocolate fudge domes into the centers. If a lot of excess mint fudge overflows when you press in the chocolate fudge centers, trim it off with an offset spatula or a knife.

  3. Set aside in the freezer.

Make the chocolate hearts:

  1. Place the white chocolate in a bowl and place it over a bain-marie. Constantly mix this until the chocolate completely melts. Remove from heat.

  2. Add in a few drops of red food coloring or food gel. If the chocolate seizes from the food coloring, mix in some vegetable oil little by little to get it back to a smooth consistency.

  3. Smooth some of the red chocolate into a small, heart-shaped silicon mold and let the chocolate set.

Final assembly:

  1. Remove the mint chocolate domes from the freezer and release them from the silicon mold.

  2. Remove the red chocolate hearts from the silicon mold and place a little dab of extra red chocolate on the bottom so it will adhere to the fudge dome. Place the red heart on the top of each fudge dome.

  3. Enjoy!
