Trash Can Cookies

Turn your “trash” into a delicious treasaure!

Difficulty: Easy | Time: 45min (active). 2hrs 45min (total) | Yields: 1 dozen cookies

Halloween has come and gone and there are 3 outcomes:

  1. We’re left with an excess of Halloween candy.

  2. We’ve eaten all of our favorite candies and we’re left with the ones we don’t really like that much.

  3. Both 1 & 2.

Before your throw that candy away, I’ve found your solution: TRASH CAN COOKIES! They transform all that leftover, undesirable candy into something soft, chewy and irresistible. Say no to waste, and hello to taste! Trash can cookies for the win!

Ingredients:

  • 2-3 cups leftover Halloween candy, chopped

  • 1 cup butter

  • 3/4 cup brown sugar

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 3.4oz box vanilla pudding mix, unprepared

  • 2 1/4 cups Flour

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Directions:

  1. In the bowl of a stand mixer, or with an electric hand mixer, beat together the butter and the sugar until light and fluffy.

  2. Beat in the eggs and the vanilla until incorporated.

  3. Add in the dry ingredients until just combined.

  4. Fold in the chopped Halloween candy.

  5. Scoop the dough into 1/4 cup sized dough balls and place on a lined baking sheet.

  6. Chill the dough balls for 2-4 hours—this helps the cookies stay thick in the oven. (I put mine in the freezer for a few hours before baking).

  7. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and bake the cookies for 15-20 minutes.

  8. Remove for the oven and let cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes, then transfer onto a wire cooling rack to cool completely… or enjoy warm :)
